# Linking a blog post to a new page or external URL \[B12 2.0\]

## Learn how to replace a blog post template with a custom page or external link.

By default, each blog post in your blog feed links to its own template-based page. If you want more flexibility, you can unlink that template and connect the blog feed item to a different page on your website or to an external URL.

This is useful if you want to create a fully custom page, add extra media, or link to content hosted elsewhere.

**Note:** If you plan to link to a new page on your site, [create that page](https://support.b12.io/en/articles/5008056-adding-a-new-page-to-your-website?hsLang=en) first before continuing.

### Linking a blog feed item

1\. In the left sidebar menu, go to **`Website`** **\>** **`Pages`**.

2\. Select the page with your blog posts, then scroll to `Collection`.

3\. Click `Add new blog post` or select an existing one you want to update.

**Tip:** You can leave the Body field of your blog post empty since it will not be used. 

4\. Scroll to ` Template` and click **`Unlink`.**

5\. Click `Disconnect` to remove the default blog post template.

6\. A new **Link** field will appear. Scroll up, then click the `` **plus icon**.

7\. Enter the link **Text**, choose the **Link type**, and select a destination under **Links to**.

**Tip:** 

- Choose **Page** to link to another page on your B12 website.
- Choose **External website URL** to link to a different website.
- Optionally set the link to open in a new tab or display as a button.

8\. Click ` Back` to return to your Blog feed section and save your changes.

9\. Click `Publish` in the upper-right corner to make your changes live.
