Adding and managing a blog

A blog is a great way to share updates, answer common customer questions, and help people find your business through search. In B12, there's no separate blog tool to set up. Your blog is a page on your website, and you create and manage it by asking the AI Agent, the chat assistant that builds and edits your site for you. 

How blogs work in B12

B12 builds your website as real code, and the AI Agent makes changes when you describe what you want in plain language. There's no "Add post" button and no separate blog dashboard. Instead, you tell the AI Agent what you'd like, and it builds your blog page, writes posts, and updates them for you.

Two things make this easier than it sounds:

• Changes apply instantly. When the AI Agent finishes a task, your blog updates in the preview right away. There's no separate save step.
• Every change can be undone. B12 saves a version after each edit, so you can always go back if a result isn't what you expected.

For small touch-ups, such as fixing a typo or swapping an image, you can also use Visual Edit, a click-to-edit mode for changing text and images directly. You'll see when to use each option in the sections below.

Creating your blog page

To add a blog, open the Chat panel and describe the blog you want. The AI Agent creates the page, fills it with starter content, and adds a link to it in your site's navigation menu automatically.

In the Ask AI Agent... box, enter a prompt like this: 

Add a blog page to my website. Write three starter posts about [topics your customers care about], each with a title, a featured image, and a short intro.

If you're not sure what to write about, select the Suggest some blog posts chip in the chat. The AI Agent will suggest post ideas based on your business, and you can ask it to turn any of them into a full post.

When the AI Agent finishes, an AI edits card appears in the chat summarizing what it built, and your new blog page shows in the preview.

Planning what to write about

Deciding what to post is often harder than writing it. B12 has a pre-built skill called content-strategy that plans the content your site should publish next, so your posts follow a plan instead of arriving one at a time.

A skill is a set of saved instructions the AI Agent follows every time a task comes up. You add it once and it stays with your website:

1. Click Menu at the top of the B12 Editor.
2. Select Agent, then Skills.
3. Click Add skill.
4. Select content-strategy from the list. It's added right away.

Once it's installed, you don't need to name it. Ask a planning question in the chat and the AI Agent applies the skill for you:

What should I write about on my blog next?

The AI Agent returns a plan for what to publish rather than finished posts. Pick the topics you want and ask it to write them, using the prompt in Adding a new post below.

Adding a new post

Once your blog page exists, add new posts the same way: describe the post you want in the chat. Give the AI Agent the topic and any key points you want covered, and it writes the post and adds it to your blog. 

Enter a prompt like this:

Write a new blog post titled "[post title]" about [topic]. Cover [two or three main points] and keep the tone [friendly, professional, or your preferred tone]. Add it to my blog.

The AI Agent writes the post, adds it to your blog page, and gives it its own web address automatically. You can review the result in the preview and ask for changes in a follow-up message.

Editing an existing post 

How you edit a post depends on how big the change is. Use Visual Edit for quick text and image fixes, and the AI Agent for larger rewrites or structural changes.

Quick text and image fixes. For small changes, such as correcting a word or replacing a photo, turn on Visual Edit from the chat panel, then click the text or image on your post to edit it directly.

Larger rewrites. For bigger changes, such as rewriting a section, changing the order of content, or updating the post's layout, describe what you want in the chat. Name the post so the AI Agent knows which one to edit:

In my blog post "[post title]", rewrite the introduction to focus on [new angle] and add a section about [topic].

Managing your posts

You can reorder, hide, or remove posts by asking the AI Agent. Because the AI Agent handles the whole blog, you describe the change you want rather than dragging items around.

Here are common requests you can copy and adjust:

• Reorder posts: "On my blog page, show my newest posts first."
• Hide a post: "Remove the post titled '[post title]' from my blog page, but keep it in case I want it back later."
• Delete a post: "Delete the blog post titled '[post title]' from my website."

Refining your blog's design and layout

You can change how your blog looks the same way you manage posts: describe the look you want, and the AI Agent updates the design. This is helpful for setting up post previews, featured images, or a cleaner layout.

Try prompts like these:

Update my blog page to show each post as a card with its featured image, title, and a short preview of the text.

Or, to match your brand:

Give my blog a clean, magazine-style layout with the featured post at the top and the rest in a two-column grid.

Optimizing posts for search

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of helping your pages appear in search results when people look for topics you cover. A blog is one of the best ways to improve your site's SEO over time, because each post is a new page that can rank for the questions your customers ask.

A few steps make each post easier to find:

• Write clear, specific titles. A title like "How to choose a wedding photographer" matches what people search for better than "Our latest news."
• Use headings within the post. Ask the AI Agent to break longer posts into sections with headings so both readers and search engines can follow the structure.
• Link between your pages. Ask the AI Agent to link a post to a related service page, and the other way around.

You can also set your site's meta title and meta description, the text search engines show in results, from the Settings > Manage site identity.

Publishing your blog

Your blog and its posts aren't visible to visitors until you publish. Everything you do in the editor happens on a private preview first, so you can review your posts before they go live.

When your blog is ready, select Publish in the top-right corner of the editor. Your latest changes, including new and updated posts, go live on your website.

⇒You can create a skill that outlines how your blogs should be created. Include any structure or design requirements you want the agent to follow every time you add a new blog post in your skill. →Will my posts appear in my navigation menu automatically?

⇒Your blog page is added to your site's navigation menu when the AI Agent creates it. Individual posts live on the blog page rather than in the main menu. You can ask the AI Agent to feature specific posts elsewhere on your site.

→Can visitors leave comments on my posts?

⇒Comments aren't a built-in feature. If you'd like them, ask the AI Agent to add a third-party comment tool, and provide the embed code from the comment service you want to use.
