The header is the strip at the top that holds your logo and those links, and the footer is the strip at the bottom with your contact details, secondary links, and copyright line. You can change all three by asking the AI Agent. You can also change colors, fonts, and spacing yourself with `Visual edit`, and some of the wording too. Adding, removing, or reordering menu links always goes through the AI Agent, because the editor has no button for it. **Note:** These three areas are shared across your site. This is common in headers and footers, and it depends on how your site was built. The text can still be changed: ask the AI Agent and it makes the change for you. The same goes for images that have no `Replace` button. **Tip:** If you're comfortable with code, you can also make these changes yourself in `Code`. ### Editing your navigation menu Every menu change can be made by asking the AI Agent. Renaming a link can sometimes be done yourself in Visual edit, while adding, removing, and reordering links always go through the AI Agent. #### Renaming a navigation menu link The quickest way to rename a link is to ask the AI Agent: ``` Rename the [Services] link in my navigation menu to [What we do]. ``` To try it yourself in Visual edit: 1. Click `Visual edit` in the chat input. 2. In the website preview on the right, click the menu link you want to rename. 3. In the `Content` section of the left panel, type the new wording. If it shows "Content not editable", use the AI Agent prompt above instead. 4. Click `Save` in the unsaved-changes bar above the chat input. #### Reordering navigation menu links There is no drag-and-drop control for menu order in the editor. Describe the order you want and the AI Agent rewrites the menu: ``` Reorder my navigation menu to: [Home], [About], [Services], [Contact]. ``` #### Adding a navigation menu link You rarely need to add a link by hand. When the AI Agent creates a page for you, it adds the matching link to your menu at the same time, and often to your footer as well. If a page is missing from your menu, ask the AI Agent to add the link for you: ``` Add a link to my [Reviews] page in my navigation menu, between [About] and [Contact]. ``` #### Removing a navigation menu link To take a link out of the menu while keeping the page online, say so in your request: ``` Remove [page name] from my navigation menu, but keep the page on my website. ``` Removing a link from the menu leaves any link to the same page in your footer. If you want it gone from the footer too, say so in the same message. **Tip:** Put several menu changes in one message rather than sending them one at a time. A single request such as "rename Services to What we do, move it before About, and drop the Blog link" is faster and keeps your menu consistent. ### Editing your header The header is the first thing most visitors look at. You can ask the AI Agent for any header change, and you can change colors, fonts, and spacing yourself in Visual edit. #### Changing header color, spacing, and text The quickest way is to describe the change to the AI Agent. For example: ``` Make my header background [dark green] and change the phone number in it to [phone number]. ``` To make the change yourself in Visual edit: 1. Click `Visual edit` in the chat input. 2. In the website preview, click the part of the header you want to change. 3. In the left panel, use the section you need. `Content` changes the wording, `Typography` the font and size, `Colors` the text and background color, and `Layout` the spacing. 4. Click `Save` in the unsaved-changes bar above the chat input. #### Replacing your header logo To have the AI Agent swap your logo, click `+` in the chat input to attach your new logo image, then send: ``` Replace the logo in my header with the image I attached. ``` To replace it yourself in Visual edit: ![Header logo selected in Visual edit, with the Edit, Metadata, and Replace buttons in the Content section](https://support.b12.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-26-2026-08-48-47-7797-PM.png?width=670&height=247&name=image-png-Oct-26-2026-08-48-47-7797-PM.png) 1. Click `Visual edit` in the chat input. 2. In the website preview, click your logo. 3. In the `Content` section of the left panel, click `Replace`. 4. Choose your new image. If this is your only change, it saves straight away. Otherwise, click `Save` in the unsaved-changes bar. If your logo is text rather than an image, or there is no `Replace` button, use the AI Agent instead. #### Changing header layout Layout changes are best described in plain language to the AI Agent. For example: ``` Keep my header fixed at the top of the page as visitors scroll, and add a [Book a call] button to the right of the navigation menu. ``` Your header looks different on a phone, where the navigation links usually collapse behind a menu button so they fit a narrow screen. Click the phone icon `` above the preview to check your changes at phone width before you publish. ### Editing your footer Footers usually carry your business name, contact details, opening hours, social links, and a copyright line. Because the footer repeats on every page, it is worth keeping those details accurate. Ask the AI Agent for any footer change, or try the wording yourself in Visual edit. #### Editing footer text The quickest way is to tell the AI Agent what the new wording should be: ``` Change the copyright line in my footer to [© 2026 Your business name. Click `Visual edit` in the chat input. 2. In the website preview, click the footer text you want to change. 3. In the `Content` section of the left panel, edit the wording. If it shows "Content not editable", use the AI Agent instead. 4. Click `Save` in the unsaved-changes bar above the chat input. #### Changing footer structure For anything structural, such as adding links or changing which details appear, ask the AI Agent: ``` Update my footer to show my address as [full address], my phone number as [phone number], and add links to my [Privacy policy] and [Terms] pages. ``` ### Saving and publishing your changes Changes the AI Agent makes are saved for you. Text, color, and spacing changes you make in Visual edit show up in the preview straight away, but they are not saved yet. A bar reading "You have unsaved changes."  appears above the chat input, with `Discard` to throw the changes away and `Save` to keep them. 1. Click `Save` in the unsaved-changes bar above the chat input. 2. Check the pages you changed in the website preview. Then click the phone icon `` above the preview to check them at phone width. 3. Click `Publish` in the top right to push the changes to your live website. **Caution:** Unsaved changes are lost if you leave the editor. Click `Save` in the unsaved-changes bar before you navigate away. The `Save` button in the top toolbar is a different control that applies to code changes only. Saving keeps your work in the editor, and it does not update the website your visitors see. Only publishing does that. ### Frequently asked questions →Can I reorder my menu items by dragging them? ⇒No. The editor has no drag-and-drop control for menu order. Ask the AI Agent for the order you want, listing the links from left to right. →Why does the Content field say "Content not editable"? ⇒Some parts of your site, often the header and footer, can't be edited in the left panel. Ask the AI Agent to make the change, or ask it to rebuild that part as plain text so you can edit it yourself later. →Can I keep a page on my website but hide it from the menu? ⇒Yes. Ask the AI Agent to remove the link and keep the page. The page stays online at its own web address, so you can still share the link directly. →Does removing a menu link also remove it from my footer? ⇒No. The footer keeps its own link to the page. If you want both gone, ask the AI Agent to remove the link from your menu and your footer in the same message. →Do menu, header, and footer changes use AI credits? ⇒Changes you make yourself in Visual edit do not use credits. Asking the AI Agent to make a change does, like any other request you send it.
