# Setting up loops for the AI Agent

## Describe a recurring job once, and the AI Agent plans it, runs it on a schedule, and reports back to you.

A loop is a recurring job you describe once, which the AI Agent then repeats on a schedule and reports back on. You might set one up for a weekly health check of your website, a monthly content plan, or a regular look at what your competitors are doing. Your site gets steady care without you having to remember to ask.

### What a loop is

When you describe a job, the AI Agent turns it into a loop. It plans the steps, picks when each one runs, and sets up the tools it needs. You'll see these words on the Loops screen:

- **Loop:** a named group of recurring jobs, such as "Website maintenance."
- **Scheduled task:** one job inside a loop, with its own timing (for example, every Sunday). A loop can have several.
- **Skill:** a set of instructions that teaches the agent a kind of work, like a site audit or an SEO review. The agent adds the skills a loop needs for you.
- **Connector:** a link to another app, like Slack or Google Drive. You connect these under `Agent` \> `Connectors`. B12's own tools, like B12 analytics, can also appear on a loop's card. They're built in, so there's nothing to connect.

### Starting a loop

You can start from one of the ready-made packs or describe your own job in a sentence. The packs are:

- **Website maintenance:** checks your site for problems like broken links, leftover placeholder text, and security or accessibility issues, then fixes the most important ones.
- **Content/SEO strategy:** researches the search terms your customers use, plans a content calendar, and drafts the next piece on a regular schedule.
- **Competitive intelligence:** keeps an eye on two or three competitor websites and points out openings for your business.

![Loops screen with a box to describe a job and Website maintenance, Content/SEO strategy and Competitive intelligence buttons](https://support.b12.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-30-2026-04-38-32-1946-PM.png?width=500&height=322&name=image-png-Oct-30-2026-04-38-32-1946-PM.png)

1. In the B12 Editor, open the `Menu` tab and select `Agent`, then `Loops`.
2. Click a pack button to fill in the box, or type the job you want. Then click the arrow to send it.
3. If the agent asks a question, answer it in the chat. For example, it may ask whether there's anything else to focus on.
4. Read the agent's summary. It tells you what the loop will do and when it first runs. Click `View loop` to see it on the Loops screen.
5. If the loop uses an app you haven't connected yet, click `Connect` on the “Connect \[app name\]” card that appears below the chat and sign in to that app.

If you'd rather write your own, a single sentence that says what and when is enough. Reports always come to the chat and your email, so only say where if you want them somewhere else too:

```
Every [day and time, with your time zone], [the job you want done] and, if you want, [where else to send or save the result].
```

For example:

> Every Monday at 9am New York time, write a short report on last week's site visits and save it to Google Drive.

![AI Agent reply confirming a Monday 9 AM report loop, with a View loop button and a Connect Google Drive card](https://support.b12.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-30-2026-04-49-02-4042-PM.png?width=300&height=327&name=image-png-Oct-30-2026-04-49-02-4042-PM.png)

**Tip:** Say the timing in plain words and include your time zone, such as "every Friday at 3pm London time." The agent sets the schedule from what you write. If you don't give a time, the agent picks one for you, such as Sunday at midnight UTC.

A loop is for work you want repeated. If you only need something done once, like "check my page speed," just ask in the chat and the agent does it right away.

### What happens when a loop runs

Each time one of a loop's tasks runs, the agent does the work and then reports back:

- The report appears in the agent chat, and a copy is sent to you by email.
- When the next step is already scheduled, the report says which day it runs.
- When there's something to act on, it ends with a question about the next step, for example, "Should I make the top three changes? Just say Go." Reply **Go** in the chat to have the agent carry on.

**Note:** A loop never publishes your website. Any changes it makes are saved in the editor but stay hidden from visitors until you check them in the preview and click `Publish` yourself.

Each run uses AI credits, just like a request you send in the chat. If you're out of credits, that run is skipped and you get an email letting you know.

### Changing, pausing, or removing a loop

All your loops are listed under **Your loops** on the Loops screen. Click a loop's card to open it and see its skills, its connectors (with the account each one uses), and its scheduled tasks, each with the time of its next run.

![Open loop card listing B12 analytics and Google Drive connectors and a weekly task with its next run date](https://support.b12.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-30-2026-04-49-38-8157-PM.png?width=500&height=368&name=image-png-Oct-30-2026-04-49-38-8157-PM.png)

#### Changing a loop

The easiest way to change a loop is to tell the agent what you want, in your own words.

1. On the loop's card, click the three-dot menu and select `Edit with agent`.
2. Finish the message the agent starts for you in the chat, then send it.

You can also just ask in the chat at any time, for example:

> Move my SEO loop to Fridays, and also save each report to Notion.

To change a single task, click the three-dot menu next to that task and select `Edit task`.

#### Pausing a loop

Pausing stops all of a loop's tasks until you turn it back on. Nothing is deleted.

1. On the loop's card, click the three-dot menu.
2. Select `Pause`. To start the loop again later, open the same menu and select `Resume`.

#### Removing a loop

**Caution:** Removing a loop also removes all of its scheduled tasks. If you might want the loop again, pause it instead.

1. On the loop's card, click the three-dot menu and select `Remove`.
2. In the confirmation box, click `Remove`.

 If you ask the agent in the chat to delete a loop, it pauses the loop instead and tells you to remove it from the Loops screen.

#### Removing a task or skill from a loop

To drop one task, click the three-dot menu next to it and select `Remove task`. To take a skill off a loop, click the **x** on that skill's name in the **Skills** section of the card.

### Loop ideas to try

The packs are a good start, but a loop can handle almost any job you'd like done on a regular basis. Here are a few ideas you can copy and adjust.

**A weekly visitor report.** Get a short summary of how your site did each week, saved where you keep your files. This needs Google Drive connected.

```
Every Monday at [time and time zone], write a short report on last week's site visits and save it to Google Drive.
```

**Customer questions turned into FAQs.** If your team answers customers in Slack, the agent can find the questions that keep coming up and add answers to your site. This needs Slack connected.

```
Every week, look through [Slack channel name] for questions customers keep asking. Draft answers for any that aren't on my FAQ page yet, then post a summary in the same channel.
```

**A seasonal refresh.** Keep your site in step with the calendar, with no app to connect.

```
On the 1st of every month, look up holidays and local events coming up in [your city or area]. Draft a seasonal banner and a short promotion for my homepage, and remove last month's once it has passed.
```

**A page that gets better every week.** The agent can test one change at a time and learn from the results.

```
Every week, find a page on my site that gets plenty of visits but few clicks on its main button. Suggest a new headline and button text. The following week, compare the results and tell me whether to keep the change.
```

Remember that changes to your site wait for you to publish them, so you stay in control of what visitors see.

### Frequently asked questions

→Will a loop change my live website?

⇒No. A loop can make changes in the editor, but visitors only see them after you review them and click Publish.

→How is a loop different from a scheduled task?

⇒A scheduled task is one job that runs at a set time. A loop groups one or more scheduled tasks together with the skills and connectors they need, so the agent knows what to use every time. You'll also see a loop's tasks under `Agent` \> `Schedule`, where you can choose View loop from a task's menu to jump to its loop.

→Can a loop post to Slack or save files to Google Drive?

⇒Yes. Ask for it when you describe the loop, or later in the chat (for example, "also post the report in #marketing"). If the app isn't connected yet, the agent adds a Connect card below the chat so you can sign in.

→What happens if I disconnect an app that a loop uses?

⇒The loop doesn't switch to another account. It waits for the one it was set up with, and its card shows that app as Not connected. Connect the same account again under `Agent` \> `Connectors` to get the loop working with it again.

→I have more than one account connected for the same app. Which one does a loop use?

⇒The agent asks you which account to use when it sets up the loop. The loop's card shows the account next to each connector.
