High-quality images and videos make your website more engaging and visually effective. This article covers the recommended formats, resolutions, and file sizes for media on your B12 website.
Images
B12 automatically resizes images when needed, so uploading larger images is always the better choice. Images that are too small may appear blurry or pixelated on some screens, while oversized images can be scaled down without any loss in quality.
Use these guidelines for best results:
- Gallery images: 72 pixels per inch (ppi) resolution
- Hero images or section backgrounds: At least 1920 x 1080 pixels
Supported image formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG
Troubleshooting image uploads
If your image is in an unsupported format, convert it using an online tool such as CloudConvert. For example, you can use CloudConvert to convert Apple HEIC files to JPG.
Note: In some cases, you may need to strip metadata from your image before uploading. CloudConvert includes this as an option during conversion.
Hero and background videos
For section backgrounds or hero videos, keep the files short and high-quality. Use these guidelines:
- Maximum file size: 75 MB
- Minimum resolution: 720p (1280 x 720 pixels)
- Recommended format: MP4 using the H.264 codec
Note: Background videos are always muted and cannot play audio.
Common video resolution options:
