AI messages determine how many requests you can send to the AI Agent in your plan. Each message that applies changes to your website uses one AI message.

What uses an AI message

Use an AI message when you ask the AI Agent to:

  • Generate a new section or page
  • Update text, images, sections, or layout
  • Add or modify functionality
  • Fix issues or bugs

Note: Follow-up replies that continue the same change also use AI messages.

How AI messages work

AI messages are used when the AI Agent completes any of the following actions:

  • Reads your request and sends a reply
  • Reads your request, updates your website, and saves a new version with restore capability

AI messages aren't used when you:

  • Generate your initial website design
  • Navigate the B12 editor
  • Preview your site
  • Edit code manually (without prompting the AI Agent)
  • Restore a previous version

Free plan

5 AI messages per day (limit of 30 per month)

    • Learning how the AI Agent works

Basic plan - Website ($49/month)

100 AI messages per month

Best for:

    • Building and refining a website
    • Iterative improvements to content and layout
    • Adding features and integrations over time

Tip: If you've used all available AI messages, upgrade to a higher plan to continue using the AI Agent.

Basic plan - Website + Client Engagement ($78/month)

300 AI messages per month

Best for:

    • Managing client relationships alongside your website
    • Building and refining a website with client engagement tools
    • Growing your business with integrated client management

Professional plan ($199/month) & Advanced plan ($399/month)

300 AI messages per month

Best for:

    • Professional sites requiring regular refinements
    • Frequent content updates and feature additions
    • Teams requiring extensive AI Agent support
    • Enterprise-level website management

Tip: When you use all your AI messages, you can still view and manage your site, edit code manually, and restore previous versions.

Best practices

Get the most from your AI messages:

  • Plan your changes before you prompt
  • Refine ideas using external LLMs
  • Limit brainstorming/ questioning with the AI Agent to conserve messages
  • Use clear, specific instructions, combining related changes when appropriate

  • Use restore to undo changes instead of prompting

AI Agent vs. code changes

B12 gives you two ways to update your website: using the AI Agent or editing code directly. Choose the method that best fits your change and skill level.

Use the AI Agent to:

  • Generate or rewrite content
  • Make changes involving multiple elements or complex logic
  • Implement changes when you're not sure how to code them

The AI Agent handles the implementation for you. Each AI Agent request uses one AI message from your monthly quota.

Use code changes to:

  • Adjust small styling details
  • Save AI messages for bigger tasks
  • Edit HTML, CSS, or JavaScript directly
  • Make changes when you know exactly what code to modify

Code changes don't use AI messages and give you immediate control over your site's appearance and behavior.

Save after each edit to preserve your work. If something goes wrong after a code change, use the restore option in the AI Agent chat to revert to a previous version.

Caution: Only make code changes if you're comfortable with code editing. Incorrect code edits can break your website's functionality or appearance.
