Google Analytics is a free tool from Google that tracks and reports website traffic. By adding it to your B12 website, you can see how visitors find and interact with your site.

This article walks you through retrieving your Google Tag Manager tag from Google Analytics and asking the B12 AI Agent to add it to your website.

Before you begin: You'll need a Google account to complete these steps.

Setting up Google Analytics

  1. Create a Google Analytics account.

  2. Create a new account if prompted, then create a Property for your website.
  3. Under Data Streams, select Web.

  4. Copy the Measurement ID for your Google tag. It looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX.

Adding your Google tag in B12

  1. Open the AI Agent in your B12 editor.
  2. Paste the following prompt, replacing the placeholder with your Measurement ID:
Add Google Analytics with this ID: INSERT YOUR TAG ID

  3. The AI Agent will integrate the tag into your website automatically.

Verifying your setup

After adding your tag, it can take 24–48 hours for data to start appearing in Google Analytics.

To confirm your tag is working right away, use Google Tag Assistant, a free Chrome extension that checks whether your tag is installed and firing correctly.

Tip: If you're new to Google Analytics, Google offers a guided tour to help you navigate your reports and understand your data.
