Search engines don't display websites automatically—they first need to discover and evaluate your site. If your site isn't showing up in search results, the likely cause depends on how long your site has been live.

Your site launched less than two weeks ago

Search engines periodically scan the internet to discover new websites and update existing rankings. This process is called indexing. New websites are typically indexed within two weeks of launching, though the exact timeline varies and is determined entirely by each search engine.

If your site launched recently, search engines may not have discovered it yet. This should resolve on its own within 14 days.

In the meantime, you can:

  • Share your site on social media platforms relevant to your industry
  • Use advertising services to drive early traffic to your site

Driving traffic before your site is indexed can improve your initial ranking once search engines do find your site.

Tip: You can speed up indexing on Google by submitting your site through Google Search Console. See our Google Search Console article for instructions. Note that this only affects Google—other search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo will still discover your site on their own timeline.

Your site launched more than two weeks ago

Once a site is indexed, search engines continue to visit it regularly—a process called crawling—to check for changes and new content. Rankings are based on a number of factors evaluated over time, including:

  • Number of visitors and the consistency of your site's traffic
  • How many visitors arrived through a given search engine
  • Your site's Search Engine Optimization (SEO)—the practice of improving a site so it ranks higher in search results
  • Site age and page load speed

For customers on plans that include SEO, B12 performs a number of optimizations to help build a strong foundation for search visibility.

You can also take additional steps to improve your rankings:

  • Publish new content regularly, such as blog posts
  • Share your content on social media platforms relevant to your industry
  • Promote your site using marketing platforms relevant to your market
  • Add metadata to describe each new page's purpose when you add it to your site
  • Connect your Facebook, Google Maps, Yelp, and Bing listings in your SEO dashboard.
    • Copy your Google Tag, then ask the AI Agent to integrate it in your website.

      • Add Google Analytics with this ID: INSERT YOUR TAG ID
