Tags and categories help you organize your services, products, or blog posts on your B12 website. They also make it easier for visitors to find what they’re looking for by filtering and browsing related content.

Adding tags

Tags are labels you can use to group items into categories. You can add multiple tags to a single item.

1. In the left sidebar, go to website Website > pages Pages and select the page with your collection (services, products, blog feed, etc.).

2. Click on the item you’d like to tag, either from the left sidebar or the section.

3. Scroll to the Tags field in the left sidebar. Type a tag name and press the Enter key or Return key.

Now the item will be associated with that tag. When the tag is selected on the website, only the items associated with that tag will appear.

Repeat for each item you want to organize.

Adding subcategories

Categories are structured tags that work as Category: Subcategory. They allow you to organize content into dropdown menus.

To add a category:

1. Follow steps 1–3 from Adding tags.

2. In the Tags field, type your category and subcategory in the format: Category: Item. So, to add a category, you would type the category name and then the subcategory within it.

For example, if you wanted to sort a blog post about how to crochet a sweater, you would tag 1) Crocheting and 2) clothing type: sweater

This automatically creates dropdown menus for your categories.

Note: If you don’t specify a category, the tag will default to General.

Deleting tags

1. Open the item that contains the tag you want to remove.

2. In the Tags field, click the x next to the tag name.

Once a particular tag have been removed from all items, it will no longer appear.

Hiding tags

If you want to keep tags for organization but not display them on your live website:

1. In the left sidebar, go to website Website > pages Pages and select the page with your collection (services, products, blog feed, etc.).

2. Scroll and click Order & positioning.

3. Check off Hide actions for filters.

This hides tags from your live site but keeps them available in the editor. To show them again, uncheck the box.

Note: After making any kind of changes to your B12 site, always remember to click Publish in the upper right-hand corner of your editor to ensure your changes are reflected on your live site!
