Before proceeding with manual domain connection, we recommend attempting the automated connection process outlined in our Publishing your Website on a Custom Domain article. If the automated method doesn't work, follow the steps below to manually connect your domain to your B12 website.

1. Log in to your B12 Account

2. From the left sidebar menu, click Domains.

3. Add your existing domain

  • If this is your first domain, click Connect existing domain.

  • If you've added domains previously, click Add domain, then select Connect existing domain.

4. Enter your domain name, starting with www (e.g., www.yourdomain.com)

Optional: Check the Make this my primary domain box to set it as your official domain for search engines.

5. Click Sync Domain, then Continue.

6. Scroll to the bottom of the listed domain providers and select Go to our manual setup.

7. Copy the REQUIRED VALUE listed next to CNAME.

8. In a new browser tab, log in to your domain registrar's account and locate the DNS management or DNS zone settings for your domain.

9. Delete any existing A records or CNAME records for @ or www.

Tip: Some domain providers show your domain name instead of @ and/or they may include your domain after www. Reference your domain provider's support materials to confirm.
A records and CNAME records for these hosts/names function the same and should deleted.

Examples:
yourdomain.com = @
www.yourdomain.com = www

10. Create the following 2 DNS records:

CNAME record details:

    • Host/Name/Alias: www

    • Type: CNAME

    • Value/Points to: [Paste the value coped from B12]

    • TTL: Default or 3600 seconds

A record details:

    • Host/Name: @

    • Type: A Record

    • Value/Points to: 52.22.145.238

    • TTL: Default or 3600 seconds

11. Save your DNS changes.

12. Return to your B12 Editor tab and click Copy for each setting, then click I have added 2/2 records above to my domain's provider. Then click Done.

14. Return to your B12 account's Domains section to view your domain's connection status. It should change to Connected once the DNS updates are recognized.

Note: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate globally, though they often update sooner.
