There are three steps to publishing your website on your own domain.

First, you'll log in to your B12 account to add your domain and get your DNS settings.

Second, you'll log in to the account you have with your domain host (e.g. GoDaddy, Google, eNom, Register.com, etc.) to update your DNS settings.

Step 1: Add your domain and get your DNS settings

  • Log in to your B12 account at www.b12.io.
  • Click the purple Publish button in the top right corner, and then click OK. A version of your website will be generated in a new tab, which you can close once you see your website fully loaded.
  • Return to your B12 account and refresh the page.
  • Click Domains on the left side of your B12 account.
  • Click Connect existing domain.
  • Enter your domain name, making sure to include www. at the start.
  • Click Save changes.
  • Click on the domain you just connected. If you're adding more than one domain, be sure to check the Make this my primary domain box on the domain you want to display in search results.
  • Click View setup instructions. You will need the specified A Record and CNAME for later when you log in to your domain host. Click Done
  • Click Save changes

Step 2: Log in to the account you have with your domain host (e.g. GoDaddy, Google, eNom, Register.com etc.)

  • Find your DNS settings. Look for your account admin panel, domain management area, DNS configuration, or similar.
  • You only need to add or update two records: the A Record for your "apex" (a domain without any subdomain in front of it, e.g. yourdomain.com instead of www.yourdomain.com, this is sometimes represented by an @ symbol) and the CNAME for the www subdomain.
  • Set the A Record's Host to @ or yourdomain.com
  • Set the A Record's destination to to 52.22.145.238 (some domain hosts require you to put another period at the end of this number, and some do not).
  • Click Save, Save Zone File, Add Record, or similar.
  • Set the CNAME record's Host to www
  • Set the CNAME record's destination to the value in the View setup instructions window you saw when you added your domain in your B12 account.
  • Click Save, Save Zone File, Add Record, or similar.
  • Your records should now look something like the below image - although each domain host has a slightly different appearance!

Step 3: Return to your B12 account.

  • Click Publish and OK. If you can't see the purple Publish button in the top right corner, click the Home icon and then click Publish.
  • That's it! It may take up to 24-48 hours for DNS changes to propagate, as a result your website may take up to 48 hours to be live on your domain.
